Brendan Rodgers is an embarrassment. He is an embarrassment both on and off the field. For the umpteenth time in his short managerial life he proudly played himself up just before the inevitable almighty fall. His '150 percent certain to remain manager next season' was typically succeeded by a 6-1 hammering at the hands of Stoke. To be abundantly clear, this was the worst defeat for Liverpool since 1963.
Also disgraceful was how he approached the match vs Real Madrid earlier in the season - basically giving up before even taking to the field at the Bernabeu. Liverpool fans remember going into major stadiums with the confidence of winning or fighting for a draw but Rodgers has sucked that out of us. We remember Rafa's teams winning against plenty of the continental heavyweights and if not winning, running them bloody close.
But more than anything else, for the first time in many a season there seem to be two realistic, brilliant candidates available to us. Rafa has proven himself all over again (with Chelsea and Napoli) and clearly loves Liverpool Football Club. Jurgen Klopp is a genius manager who can take Liverpool back amongst the elite. Both men bring tons of experience, silverware, tactical nous and the ability to attract top-level players from across the world. It would be a major mistake on the part of FSG if they were to let go of this opportunity.
